Net-Inspect and Capvidia Announce Strategic Partnership

This partnership will help reduce the amount of time involved to create a first article inspection report and improve the accuracy of the first article inspection report. These benefits can be fully realized throughout customers’ supply chains with a fully enabled digital thread.

Net-Inspect LLC, a leading provider of supply chain and quality management solutions, has announced a strategic partnership with Capvidia, a company focused on Model Based Enterprise software solutions for the manufacturing industry.

The partnership will combine Net-Inspect’s expertise in supply chain visibility solutions with Capvidia’s expertise in CAD technology to speed up the process for OEMs and their suppliers at all tier levels to create first article inspection reports directly from the Model-Based Definition (MBD).

Under the agreement, Capvidia will enable a ‘publish to Net-Inspect’ option within their MBDVidia product. This will enable users to extract the specifications directly from their CAD models – including PTC Creo, Siemens NX, SolidWorks, CATIA, STEP AP242, QIF, and many others – and input the data directly into a Net-Inspect first article inspection report.

Capvidia makes Model-Based Definition a practical reality for Creo users

New technologies help CAD users create MBD-ready models that are fully usable in downstream processes.

May 23, 2017 – Boston, MA – Today, at LiveWorx ’17, the PTC global technology conference, Capvidia’s Daniel Campbell participated in a panel discussion titled Leading Experts Share Their Model-Based Definition Journeys: Where They Are, How Things Are Working, and the Challenges Encountered. In a panel otherwise comprised of experts from Raytheon and TE Connectivity, Campbell brought a unique perspective: that of an industry vendor dedicated to making Model-Based Definition (“MBD”) a practical reality for Creo users.

MBD is a technology based on creating CAD models incorporating 3D annotations (e.g., Product and Manufacturing Information, or “PMI”), as the authority dataset for defining manufactured product components and assemblies (as opposed to 2D drawings.)

Based in part on NIST-developed technology, and originally commercialized by MetroSage LLC, Pundit brought simulation to metrology, enabling quality engineers to identify and assess tolerance and measurement issues early in the product development process, before a design is committed to tooling or production.

A new methodology for simulating the human heart gives researchers a powerful tool for advancing cardiovascular science.

Leuven, Belgium, May 16, 2017 – The Living Heart Project is a research initiative to develop and validate highly accurate digital simulation models of the human heart, for use by researchers, educators, medical device developers, regulatory agencies, and practicing cardiologists. One of the initiative’s first, and most valuable, products is the SIMULIA Living Heart Human Model, a dynamic, anatomically detailed, finite-element (FE) model, representing the electrical and physical behavior of a four-chamber heart, with a simplified fluid (blood) model capable of representing dynamic pressure/volume changes in intra- and extra-cardiac circulation.
To fully understand cardiac function, it’s necessary to go beyond modeling the structure of the heart, and look at the detailed behavior of blood (i.e., cardiac hemodynamics) as it interacts with that structure. This can be accomplished by using a technology borrowed from aerospace and automotive engineering: Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation. Though not without some significant challenges:

 

Capvidia to present at NIST 2017 Model Based Enterprise Summit

Leuven, Belgium, March 27, 2017 -- Capvidia will be a featured participant in the 2017 Model Based Enterprise (MBE) Summit, hosted by the National Institute of Standards, on April 3-7 in Gaithersburg, MD. The Summit's purpose is to identify challenges, research, implementation issues, and lessons learned in manufacturing and quality assurance where a 3D model of the product serves as the authoritative information source for all activities in the product's lifecycle.
This year, Capvidia will demonstrate an array of technologies supporting MBE, including:
